Giving Back to the Community
Free Front Porch Portraits
in the time of COVID-19
Hello neighbors and friends!
At a time when my photo sessions are on hold I, like many photographers across the world, am taking part in a project widely known as “Front Porch Portraits” as a way to bring local communities together during this historic and unprecedented time of isolation and uncertainty.
A few of you may recall that last year I talked about doing “front yard” family portraits as a way of documenting a little slice of everyday life in our community. For one reason or another I never got around to actually doing it. Then I read how other photographers around the country are doing this very thing. It’s a way to serve our communities, stay creatively active and fulfill a new purpose.
With the way all of our lives are changing ever so fast, the old saying, “there’s no time like the present” suddenly has a clear and razor-sharp meaning. So, now is the time to document our presence during this extraordinary time we are living in. Then one day we can all look back and remember this extraordinary time that brought us even closer together-but-apart.
It’s one way I feel I can give back to this amazing community that I am so grateful to be a part of. It’s completely free and its your opportunity to show your personality and document this moment in time.
How it works:
Safety First: Because I use long lenses, I will be 10 feet or further away and there will be no physical contact between me and you, which keeps us all safe.
It’s 100% free! It’s not a full session and it will only take about 10-15 minutes. You’ll get digital files to download and keep forever.
I plan to write a blog about this project at some point and may use some of the photos we create so I’ll ask you to sign a model release.
Starting now till over the next few weeks. For the best natural light, the best shooting times are early morning or late in the day towards sunset.
What to wear
Wear the clothes that make you feel really good. That’s my honest, best advice but if you need a little more help you can always check out my Style Guide and Tips here. These “Front Porch” sessions are more documentary/lifestyle, not formal portraits.
By all means feel free to include your pets. Above all, this project is about being together and having fun!
I can’t wait to get started on this amazing community project!
Contact me soon so we can book your Front Porch Portrait Session.
All the best,
P.S. If we haven’t met yet, this is our opportunity!
